Running INPA incorrectly definitely isn't recommended because of the advanced option set. The last thing we want is for you to un-code your key to the car or flash your ECU to blank.

OK, formalities over - let's get cracking.
What is INPA?
In short, BMW factory software. INPA is not a coding application and is the more user friendly option compared to EDIBIAS. INPA needs to be seen more as a factory data interpreter.
There are plenty other guides out there, what's special about this one?
There are many guides available - Google it. This is aimed at just getting the basics going and the install right.
What models can I use with this version of INPA?
I've featured INPA 6.4.3, models covered are:

Windows XP - or purchase at a store
I highly recommend that you use XP for INPA. Using compatibility mode on Windows 7 has given me issues in the past.

You've got everything installed, now it's time to hit up the install of INPA. This guide assumes that you're installing INPA on XP.
- First we need to make some changes to the OS variables. Right click on My Computer > Properties > Advanced > Environment variables.
- Double click on Path and add ;c:ediabasbin right at the end of the folder path. Hit OK and reboot the PC
- Unzip the INPA archive - this will give you a .nrg file. Open up PowerISO and mount the image to a virtual drive on your PC.
- Open up the files and folders and hit the Instprog.exe within the INSTALL folder. You can ignore the warning message.
- Choose English and hit continue
- Select the drive to where you want to install. The default path is C: - works fine

- Now this is important, select BMW Group Rectification programs UK If you don't select this, the regions and application language is anything but English
- Also NB, ONLY select EDIABAS and INPA on the Complete installs.
- Select your interface, being OBD unless your cable protocol is different. OBD is the easiest.
- Confirm the installation and hit continue. Once done, click End and you're sorted

- If you get an error message about the Environment PATH - go to the first step in this guide and add the paths correctly.

- Once you've installed things, go to C:EDIABASHardwareOBD and double click on the OBDSetup.exe file. This will configure your OBD interfaces that INPA can communicate with.
